Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios is still having a hard time over getting the tragic death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant. Bryant, a former five–time NBA champion, tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash in January 2020.
Ahead of the second anniversary of Bryant’s death, Kyrgios took to Instagram to pay his tribute to the late NBA legend. “I fu***** miss Kobe man. Don’t take any day for granted… it all can be taken away instantly, this life is beautiful, enjoy it with the ones you love, the ones that make you laugh and smile,” Kyrgios said in an Instagram post.
Meanwhile, Kyrgios set to kick off his 2022 season in Melbourne after receiivng a wild card for an ATP event scheduled to take place at Melbourne Park. “Obviously, I’m excited to play at home,” Kyrgios told News Corp.
“Tennis Australia has done a great job getting things together and giving us more options to play at home before the Australian Open. “Giving me a wildcard is awesome — I’ll do my best to put on a show for the fans.”
Like Bryant, Kyrgios wants to inspire others
“I lost a lot of motivation throughout my career a lot,” Kyrgios told the Australian open. “And then, you know, I don’t really play for myself anymore. You know, I obviously have my NK Foundation, but I just play for everyone, you know, all the kids and everyone, who you know, kind of lacks confidence, who is very insecure.
You know, I can relate to that as a young kid growing up. you know, I was a bit overweight. You know, I definitely feel when I’m playing, I’m playing for a lot of people, that I’m very relatable. As I said, I just play and I try to give people hope and I try and inspire and to just go out there and be comfortable in your own skin.”
