The annual Riverside County Foundation on Aging charity golf tournament was held Dec. 11 at the Classic Club in Palm Desert. The golfing got off to a fine start and the weather cooperated as 60 people lined up to play and help the foundation raise money for its program.
The Foundation on Aging is a nonprofit charitable foundation that works to raise awareness of senior needs and to raise funds to help fill in the gaps created by the decreasing public funding for services to seniors due to the state and county’s distressed economy. The foundation supports programs and services provided by the Riverside County Office on Aging and other efforts to improve the quality of life of seniors in Riverside County.
Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians were the event’s Gold sponsor with a $10,000 donation. Eagle sponsors at $1,500 each were IEHP, UDW, City of Rancho Mirage, Safeguard/Fontis and Soboba Casino Resort Foundation.
Birdie donations at $1,000 came from Fantasy Springs and VonZabern Surgical. The $500 Closest to the Pin sponsor was The Joslyn Center, and $250 Tee sponsors were Liberty Capital Management, Ameriprise Financial, Kat and Don Dunkle and Leon and Patricia Reynolds.
The tournament’s first place winners were Isaiah Hagerman, Marcus Aleman, Gabe Codding and Aaron Espinosa from the City of Rancho Mirage.
Following the awards ceremony, the Classic Club provided a buffet lunch, and Judy Hall-Esser, the foundation’s president, and Ross Nakatani, treasurer, presented Jose Fabela with the keys to the golf cart he won for making the elusive hole-in-one.
Board and planning committee members included Hall-Esser, Anna Martinez, Shirley Morgan, Barbara Mitchell, Nakatani, Leo Harrison, Flora Haus, Michael Tebbets, Karina Quintanilla and Joe Fritz.
Special thanks go to Fusion Sign and Design for providing banners and signs and Club Car for providing the Hole-in-One prize.
