While uncertainty now remains over Djokovic’s fate at the Australian border, Tennis Australia chief and Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley has reiterated that the process for applications was anonymous, in an attempt to reassure locals over the validity of the Serb’s exemption.
“Every application was reviewed anonymously. No one knew whose application was received by who. They looked at it purely on the grounds that were set medically by the government,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
