Traffic to both the transfer portal and the NFL draft has been busy over the last couple of days. Several Alabama players have already made their decisions and earlier today yet another member of the Crimson Tide made his decision.
Wide receiver John Metchie has decided to forgo his senior season and enter the 2022 NFL draft. Metchie provided great leadership on the offensive side of the ball for the 2021 Alabama football team.
Before his season-ending knee injury against Georgia in the SEC Championship, Metchie was having a career season for the Tide. Metchie led the team with 96 receptions and was second behind Jameson Williams on the team in receiving yards with 1,142.
Chris Low of ESPN posted this tweet earlier today reporting the news on Metchie’s decision.
Not a huge surprise, but told John Metchie will join Jameson Williams in entering the NFL draft. Both suffered torn ACL injuries late in the season and combined for 23 TD catches. Good news for @AlabamaFTBL is that safety Jordan Battle is expected to return next season.
