MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State head football coach Mike Neu has selected current outside linebackers coach Cory Connolly to lead the Cardinals’ special teams unit.
Connolly, who will remain in charge of the team’s outside linebackers in addition to his new role, completed his seventh season with the program in 2021.
“Cory has done a great job in his previous roles and has earned this promotion,” Neu said. “We’ve had great success on special teams, and I’m confident that his relentless effort and energy will make a positive impact on that group. He has a bright future ahead of him.”
Connolly was instrumental in the development of outside linebackers Christian Albright and Anthony Ekpe, who combined to earn three All-Mid-American Conference honors. He also helped guide the defense to force 19 turnovers while maintaining a plus-7 turnover margin, which was one of the top marks in college football.
He also added duties of recruiting coordinator last season and helped sign 16 future Cardinals on National Signing Day.
