CINCINNATI- The University of Cincinnati tennis team quickly gets back into action when they they head to Miamisburg, Ohio to compete against Dayton on Saturday, January 23 at 10 a.m. at the South Regency Tennis Center.
SERIES HISTORY:
The Bearcats are 25-1 all time against the Flyers, with the only loss coming in March of 2015. Last time out, Cincinnati swept Dayton 7-0 on UC’s campus. Cincinnati kept its momentum after earning the doubles point, claiming six, 2-0 set sweeps in singles play. The Bearcats put the match away after Ioana Guna fought back through set one overcoming a two-point deficit to take the first set 6-4. Guna polished off the match with a 6-0 second set finish and the Bearcats seventh 6-0 set of the day.
WHAT WE GOT:
The Bearcats are 0-2 overall following a 5-2 loss at Louisville Friday afternoon. Maria Santilli is 2-0 in No. 4 singles to start the season, winning both matches in straight sets and Emma Miceli picked up her first singles win of the season.
On the doubles side, the team looks to get their first doubles point of the season.
WHAT WE’RE AGAINST:
The Flyers are currently 0-1 following a 5-2 loss to Xavier, however they host Cleveland State Saturday afternoon before facing the Bearcats on Sunday. Junior Paige Kompa grabbed her first victory of the spring season in No. 4 singles, joining senior Claire Ghidotti who also won her draw straight sets.
