The Stockton Kings (6-4), of the NBA G League, were defeated by the Iowa Wolves (6-3), 80-76 at Stockton Arena on Friday night.
During the back-and-forth first half, Stockton shot .400 percent in the first half, .235 percent from three-point land, and .500 percent from the free throw line. The biggest lead of the first half belonged to Stockton with 30-21 in the second quarter, after going on a 9-0 run. Kings forward Ade Murkey led the way at half, scoring 10 points and adding four rebounds. Kings forward Tre‘Shawn Thurman also had a strong first half off the bench with nine points and five rebounds as the Kings entered the break leading 36-31.
Stockton started the second half hot and took their biggest lead of the game of 14 points when they led 55-41 in the third quarter. Iowa had a strong second half defensively and offensively shot .437 percent from the field, .346 percent from three and .667 percent from the free throw line. Wolves forward McKinley Wright IV led the game in scoring with 30 points, had six rebounds and two assists.
Murkey, DJ Steward and Tre’Shawn Thurman all finished with 15 points apiece. As a team, the Kings shot .419 percent from the field and .714 percent from the free throw line.
The Stockton Kings will travel to Texas and take on the Texas Legends at Comerica Center on February 2 at 5:00 PM PT. Fans can tune in to the game on ESPN+.
