PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Russell Westbrook was out of the Los Angeles Lakers’ game on Wednesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers because of lower back tightness.
It was the first game Westbrook has missed this season.
Playing the second night of a back-to-back at Portland, the Lakers lost 107-105 — their fifth straight defeat on the road.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Westbrook was also experiencing lower back tightness in Tuesday night’s loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Westbrook felt the same tightness in his back on Tuesday night vs. Milwaukee, but played through it — and ultimately felt too much discomfort on a back-to-back vs. Portland tonight, sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/W19CA3QyWn

Without Westbrook, who is averaging 18.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.6 assists in 55 games this season, the Lakers started LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Trevor Ariza, Malik Monk and Avery Bradley.
It was the team’s 28th starting lineup this season.
