Former lightweight champion Robert Easter Jr. thanked well-wishers for their support as he continues his recovery from a severe shooting incident.
Easter took three bullets when approached by muggers last Sunday. He subsequently underwent surgery for a badly injured arm.
Since the crime took place, Easter’s team provided no update on whether Easter would fight again.
Easter is counting his blessings as he heals day after day despite the uncertainty.
He said: “I pray for strength, and God has been throwing me very heavy obstacles in life.
“I’m coming out on top every time. He’s definitely been blessing me with what I ask for.
“Thank you all for the prayers and love. I appreciate it.”

ROBERT EASTER JR OPPONENT
One of his former opponents, the man Easter defeated to win the vacant IBF title in 2016 – Richard Commey sent his best to the ex-world ruler.
Commey also threw in the offer of a second fight.
“Hey, Robert Easter Jr. I am wishing you a speedy recovery and hope you get back in the gym soon.
“We need to get it on again, and I’m sure we can make it as exciting as the first back in 2016.”
Easter updated that he could move around as usual just hours after surgery. This scenario gave hope that he would soon be in the ring again.
“Got up, and I’m walking perfectly fine this morning! God is the greatest and the highest power!”
Easter last fought in February 2021 when defeating Ryan Martin via unanimous decision at Mohegan Sun Casino, Uncasville.
