WILLIAMSBURG — Virginia Legacy Soccer Club‘s recreational program will once again be offered for free this spring season.
Virginia Legacy Soccer Club is a non-profit organization that offers recreational, developmental and travel soccer for youth soccer players of all ages and disabilities.
Virginia Legacy is the largest youth soccer club in Williamsburg and, in a partnership with James City County, began offering Recreational Youth Soccer in 2012 for girls and boys ages four to eighteen.
During the fall 2021 season, Virginia Legacy began offering the recreational sport participation for free, thanks to grants from the Williamsburg Health Foundation, giving hundreds of more kids the chance to play soccer.
Once again, Virginia Legacy is offering the rec soccer for free for the 2022 spring season.
The Williamsburg-James City County (W-JCC) Recreational Soccer League offers officiated games, but does not keep standings, as to maintain a focus on providing a fun and instructional environment for kids.
Each child will play a minimum of half a game.
Practices for the six-week season will begin March 21, with game dates of April 16, April 23, April 30, May 7, May 14 and May 21. Every practice and game will take place at Warhill Sports Complex, 5700 Warhill Trail.
“We are always looking for players and positive coaches to join,” Alex Spirn, youth director for Virginia Legacy, said. “As always, our priority is to provide a safe and healthy environment.”
Registration for the spring closes March 14.
