PALM CITY, Fla. – The Drexel golf team finds itself tied for ninth place after 36 holes at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate. The tournament, which is being hosted by UNCG, is being played at the Hammock Creek Golf Club. The teams will finish the tournament on Tuesday with 18 holes.
Conditions were a little tougher on Monday morning on the par 72, 7,169-yard course. Drue Nicholas had the best round of the day for the Dragons. The transfer fired a 75, which was three over par. Nicholas was cruising at under par on the day before he ran into trouble over the last four holes. Angelo Giantsopoulos and Jeffrey Cunningham each shot 76, while Griffin Mitchell rounded out the scoring with a 78. Cunningham had the team’s only eagle of the day. That came on the 504-yard second hole. Giantsopoulos is tied for 21st overall heading into day three at 146 (+2).
The Dragons now stand at +17 heading into their final round. They are 13 strokes behind the leaders, UNCG and Creighton, who lead third place Mercer by six strokes.
