FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A sold out Border War game is getting a special guest as Trey McBride, the 2021 John Mackey Award Winner as the best tight end in college football, will be recognized with his award at halftime of the game.
McBride became the program’s first-ever unanimous All-American this past season as he led the nation’s tight ends in receptions and yards, picking up first team accolades from all five of the NCAA-recognized selectors.
The Fort Morgan native has enjoyed a busy offseason, participating in the 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl where he was named the National Team Tight End of the Week. He is slated to participate in the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine (March 1-7) as well as Colorado State’s Pro Day (March 30). The 2022 NFL Draft will run from Thursday, April 28 through Saturday, April 30, and McBride is roundly considered the top tight end available by draft experts.
The game is set for a 7 p.m. tip off on Wednesday, Feb. 23, and officially reached sell out status more than a week in advance. It will air nationally on CBS Sports Network.
