RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – After the first day of action at the Rio Verde Invitational, the Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team is in fourth at the 18-team tournament. The Eagles shot a first round 303 and have four players inside the top-27 spots on the par 72, 6,001-yard White Wing Golf Course.
Kennesaw State is atop the leaderboard at two-under 286, five strokes ahead of Xavier. KSU’s Bella Kil fired a six-under 66 to the lead, while teammate Caitlyn Campbell added a 67 for second.
How It Happened
Freshman Kyleigh Dull (Fremont, Ohio-Lakota) opened the tournament up a three-over 75 to tie for 19th after the first round. The Fremont, Ohio product turned in three birdies during the round, posting a 4.8 scoring average on the event’s five par 5s.
Junior Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit), sophomore Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland), and freshman Alyssa DiMarcantonio (Maple, Ontario-Tommy Douglas Secondary School) are all tied for 27th at 76. Junior Natai Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent’s International School) rounded out the scoring with an 82 in a tie for 74th.
Up Next
Saturday’s second round is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. MT with a shotgun start. The Eagles will be paired with Oakland and Kennesaw State.
