MOREHEAD, Ky. – For the first time in her collegiate career, Hailey Rietz has garnered OVC Golfer of the Week honors, the league announced Wednesday. Rietz is the fourth Eagle to receive the honor this year.
The Rancho Cordova, Calif. Native led the Eagles at the Rivertowne Invitational, fashioning rounds of 75-70-74—219, finishing tied for fourth overall. Rietz had one of the best performances of her collegiate career, her second top-5 finish to date and the lowest three-round score of her career.
Her rounds were highlighted by consistent play, finishing in the top-10 for scoring average in all distances, and collected the third most pars in the tournament, with 36. Her standout performance was her second round, which saw her fire a -3 on the front nine en route to two under par score; the lowest in any individual round for the Eagles.
Rietz and the Eagles return to the course March 14 at the WKU Spring Break Shootout in Dade City, Fla. The two-day tournament tees off from Lake Jovita Golf Club.
