MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men’s golf team will head to Bluffton, S.C. to compete in the Colleton River Collegiate this week. The two-day tournament begins on Monday, March 7 and runs through Tuesday, March 8. Live scoring for the event can be found at GoTigersGo.com.
The 54-hole tournament will be played at the prestigious Colleton River Club Jack Nicklaus Course. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday with a 7:15 a.m. CT shotgun start and then the third and final round on Tuesday morning at 6:45 a.m. CT on the par 72, 7,042-yard course.
“Colleton River is a venue we are very familiar with, although this year we are playing the Nicklaus Course for the first time,” head coach Blake Smart said. “Always happy to go to the Lowcountry and play a great event. I feel like the team is in a great spot, we just have to put together a complete 54-hole event. The boys have been working hard and we are heading the right direction going into the back part of the season.”
The 15-team field incudes Memphis, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Southern, No. 41 Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas State, Miami (OH), No 28 Michigan State, Minnesota, No. 36 Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers and No. 26 South Florida.
Last time out, sophomore Tyran Snyders led the Tigers at the Coral Creek Club Invitational, tying for 12th place with a score of 213 (E). Snyders, who is ranked the No. 60 player in the nation by Golfstat, has earned a two top-five’s, three top-10’s and five top-20’s in Memphis’ five tournaments this season.
