AIKEN, S.C. – Temple Golf finished the first two rounds of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate tied for 11th place with Furman in the 15-team field on Monday. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-70, 6,617-yard Palmetto Golf Club.
Recapping the Day
> Junior co-captain Conor McGrath led the Owls and is tied for 10th overall with a two-over 142. McGrath had four birdies in the first round shooting even-par, but bogeys on four out of six holes in the middle of the second round contributed to a two-over 72 in the afternoon.
> Senior co-captain Dawson Anders had a team-high six birdies in the morning round, shooting one-over 71. Anders shot a five-over 75 in the second round to end the day tied for 28th with a six-over 146.
> Freshman Ethan Whitney had five birdies in the first round, but he bogeyed on three of the last four holes to end the morning with a four-over 74. Whitney struggled in the afternoon with a 10-over 80 to tie for 64th with a 14-over 154.
> Junior Buddy Hansen struggled in the first round with an eight-over 78, courtesy of eight bogeys. Hansen shot a six-over 76 to end the day tied with Whitney for 64th overall.
> Sophomore Graham Chase struggled in the first round with an 11-over 81, as he had a quadruple bogey in two out of the first three holes but improved seven strokes in the afternoon with a four-over 74 to end the day at 69th overall.
The Field
> South Carolina leads the field at three-under. Virginia is in second place at +7, followed by VCU (+10), Wofford (+13), and host USC Aiken (+14).
> South Carolina’s Ryan Hall leads the field by six strokes through two rounds with an eight-under 132.
