PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women’s tennis team fell to the Georgetown Hoyas on Wednesday afternoon at the Hecht and Hamlin Tennis Center on the University of Pennsylvania’s campus.
The Dragons started strong, winning the doubles point. Mya Fuentes and Lorie Lemongo paired in the top-seeded match and defeated their opponents, 6-4. Aida Garcia Mendez and Isabel Cabrerizo won 7-6 (6) to clinch the doubles point in the third-seeded match.
In singles play, Georgetown rallied to take four of the six matches. Garcia Mendez downed her opponent quickly, 6-2, 6-1. Mya Fuentes’ fifth-seeded match was not finished, but the fifth-year student had a lead when the match was called off.
Drexel takes a short break before hosting NJIT on Friday, March 11 at 1 p.m. at the Vidas Tennis Bubble.
