While Hailie Deegan would’ve sure hoped to take the season by fire in 2022, the fire isn’t exactly turning out to be neither metaphorical nor in her favor so far. Because the Truck race at Atlanta was yet another disaster for the young NASCAR driver as her truck literally caught fire in the pit road.

This not only ended her race prematurely but gave a big scare to her fans after she emerged looking not so well from her truck filled with smoke.
Fortunately, she was okay. Deegan posted a tweet that more or less explained her condition and the events that led to her truck’s unfortunate condition on the pit road.

“Yes, I’m okay now,” she wrote in her note. “Our truck and times were super fast. First flat was caused from the 91 plowing into me on lap 7 on the back stretch for no reason. I was on fire for multiple laps. I started suffocating and couldn’t breathe with the fire extinguisher and black smoke engulfed the truck on pit road.”
“I couldn’t get out because I couldn’t see the window net. I declined my interview because I couldn’t say 2 words without coughing/choking.”
This was something that her fans, after reading, took a big sigh of relief as the Truck Series driver escaped without any major problems from the incident.
Happy to hear you’re ok. I’ll not get into the 91’s insanity but on this occasion, I will point fingers at your spotter/crew for the overall outcome. It was tough to see the initial pit stop on lap 9 as FS1 was in a commercial so I’m not sure if proper examof the truck was done.

Wow!! You had a lot going on there after that save. I’m glad you are ok after that. Trust your gut if something is seriously wrong in the truck. Bring it to pit road, right away. Keep digging better days are ahead.

Really glad you are ok hailie. You had a super fast truck today. 8 spots in 7 laps. Awesome. Two seasons being wrecked by those guys. Time to start using that front bumper and let them know you are done being robbed of good finishes. Give them what you been taking for too long

Get some rest Hailie. I’m so glad to hear you’re ok, that was a scary moment but we’re happy you were able to get out relatively safely.

Hailie Deegan just can’t catch a break this season
After finishing the 2021 season in 17th place, Hailie Deegan entered her second full-time season in NASCAR with some pretty high hopes.
However, those high hopes soon turned into disappointments, and have remained so for the majority of this season so far.

In Daytona, despite completing 106 laps, Deegan could only manage a 17th place finish. In Las Vegas. she found herself on the wrong side of a crash on Lap 28 that involved five more drivers on a green flag restart.
And now, in Atlanta, her truck literally caught on fire.
Hailie Deegan just can’t shake off her bad luck this season.
