The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be losing last year’s starting running back to the New England Patriots.
Leonard Fournette is set to make a visit to Foxborough on Monday, per Jeff Howe of The Athletic.
Fournette has been Tampa Bay’s lead back ever since his impressive playoff run in 2020. He played each of his two seasons with the Bucs on one-year deals, and will likely be looking for a bigger pay day and a longer-term contract this time around.
The Bucs are clearly being patient with a number of their veteran free agents, Fournette among them. Despite only having Ke’Shawn Vaughn under contract at running back for the 2022 season, Tampa Bay hasn’t been willing to overpay Fournette in order to keep him off the open market.
