The West Plains Sunrise Rotary Club’s 20th Annual Tom Smith Spring Golf Classic, will be held on Saturday, May 28th, 2022 at the North Terra Golf Course in West Plains with a shotgun start at 12:00 p.m. The tournament will benefit the Rotary Youth Backpack program. The West Plains Rotary Backpack Program serves area elementary age kids by sending a pack of food home each weekend to help kids who might not have enough food at home.
The Rotary Backpack Program has grown every year, now reaching more than 120 backpacks issued every week that school is in session, as well as extra food for school breaks. The program focuses on need at the elementary level, and currently serves 6 area schools. The program currently requires funding of nearly $25,000 dollars per year, raised between the two Rotary clubs and additional community donations.
The tournament will be a three-person scramble. Cost will be $50 per person or $150 per team. The number of flights will be determined by the number of teams. The payout for each flight will be as follows:
First Place – $500, Second Place – $300 and Third Place – $200. The tournament will also feature three hole in one prizes. Those include: a 2022 Spartan RZ-Pro Zero Turn Mower sponsored by Mega Motorsports, a 2022 Club Car Tempo sponsored by Clear Creek Golf Car and Utility Vehicles, and $1,000 cash.
Lastly, don’t miss the FREE Golfers Lunch! Domino’s Pizza and Johnny Murrell’s Barbecue and Brats will be served along with chips from Frito Lay, cookies from Sugar Lilly and beverages from Pepsi Mid America beginning at 11:00 a.m. and throughout the tournament while supplies last.
