The Columbus Blue Jackets announced tonight that forward Jack Roslovic has been named the recipient of the club’s 2021-22 Community MVP Award, which recognizes the player who best exemplifies service, dedication and leadership. The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation will donate $5,000 to the charity or charities of Roslovic’s choice in his name.
The Columbus native established Rosie’s Gears for Goals in 2020 to give back to the community that helped him get to where he is today. The mission of the foundation is to support aspiring Central Ohio hockey players by equipping them with the gear they’ll need to succeed, while also building a strong community around the sport to help players see through their goals on and off the ice.
To raise funds, Roslovic hosted the inaugural Rosie’s Gear for Goals TopGolf Event last August. Roslovic has also established a partnership with, 614 Hockey, a local apparel company that represents the Columbus hockey lifestyle, to create the Jack Roslovic Collection with proceeds benefitting Rosie’s Gear for Goals. Since its inception, the foundation has provided $70,000 in hockey equipment and hockey scholarships for youth in the Columbus area.
Outside of hockey, Roslovic works with local organizations to support children throughout the community. In February, Roslovic partnered with Seeds of Caring, a local non-profit that engages young children through a variety of service projects and meaningful, age-appropriate conversations. He collected supplies to create wellness kits in partnership with the Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion at Nationwide Children’s Hospital to support children with behavioral health needs. Last summer, he participated in a charity softball game to benefit On Our Sleeves, a children’s mental health movement powered by the experts at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The campaign tackles mental health challenges among children, breaking stigmas and starting conversations.
