Former four-star defensive end Quashon Fuller is no longer on the FSU football roster as of Friday.
He will likely enter the transfer portal as he joins Jarvis Brownlee, Corey Wren, Hunter Washington, Jordan Young, Jadarius Green-McKnight and Koby Gross as players exiting the program this spring.
The deadline to enter the transfer portal is May 1st, so I’m not surprised to see players making their moves. Some people were surprised by the news of Fuller leaving the program, but it’s not like he had contributed much since his arrival with the 2019 recruiting class.
Since 2019, Fuller played in 17 games with 11 tackles, six assists, three tackles for loss, and one sack. I thought he might make the move to contributor status this season, but I rarely recall hearing his name mentioned by coaches or anyone else.
I recall FSU defensive coordinator Adam Fuller talking about Fuller’s need to show more consistency. If a player has problems with consistency after being in a program that long? I think the writing is probably on the wall.
Fuller is talented, but for whatever reasons, it didn’t work out for him in Tallahassee. The good news is, players like Derrick McLendon and Patrick Payton seems to have taken that next step and likely surpassed Fuller on the depth chart.
Then there’s others like Dennis Briggs Jr., Jared Verse, and Leonard Warner. The defensive end position was another that the coaching staff could look for in the transfer portal as well.
Fuller leaving will open up another scholarship and means 10 of the 20 high school players signed in the 2019 recruiting class are no longer with the team.
I wish nothing but the best to Quashon Fuller and others that haven’t found a home wherever they land next. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few more players leave in the next week.
