By Barry Holbrook: Promoter Frank Warren feels that Tyson Fury has a better resume than Anthony Joshua thus far, and did a better job beating Wladimir Klitschko & Dillian Whyte.
When asked who he feels has the better resume between Fury and Joshua, Warren says thinks Tyson has better quality wins.
If this is the end of Fury’s career, his resume is better than Joshua’s at this time. Whether that will continue to be the case as AJ keeps going is yet to be determined.
Fury says he wants to retire, and he walks away now, he’ll leave two great fights on the table against Joshua & Oleksandr Usyk.
Warren believes that Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) still has a couple of fights left in him following his sixth-round knockout win over Whyte (28-3, 29 KOs) last Saturday night at Wembley Stadium, in London, England.
“Yeah, I do because I don’t think he’s reached his peak yet, I really don’t,” said Frank Warren to iFL TV when asked about his thoughts on Tyson Fury possibly retiring following his win over Dillian Whyte.
Fury’s sixth-round knockout win over Dillian Whyte showed last Saturday night how good he is right now. He defeated Whyte without suffering a scratch, and barely got hit in the fight before dispatching him in the sixth.
Fury’s performance against a very good fighter in Whyte (28-3, 19 KOs) showed how far ahead of the other top fighters he is right now.
“I feel that there are some good fights to be made. At the moment, his powers and boxing brain, what everything is now, is nearly coming to the pinnacle.
“I think there’s still a bit more there. There are still a couple of good fights to be had if he wants them. He’s got to have the mind & the mentality to box on otherwise it’s pointless.
“Yeah, I would do,” said Warren when asked if Fury is #1 in the sport over the other top boxing stars. “Tyson is the man at the moment. I think Tyson,” said Warren when asked if Fury has a better resume than Anything Joshua.
“When Tyson fought Klitschko, it was 18 months before Joshua did. He was a better fighter, and Tyson went over and done it in his backyard [in Germany]. He went and took him to school in Germany.
“When you look at Klitschko when he fought Joshua, if he had the legs when he was fighting Tyson, he might have finished the fight. He could have stopped him. The old Klitschko could have stopped him.
“Joshua had a tougher fight against Dillian Whyte than Tyson,” said Warren.
