VERONA, N.Y. – Joey Harrigan and Jacob Lindsay both shot a +1, 73 to sit in a tie for second place and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) golf team combined for a +13, 301 and are in third place after the first day of the three-day, 54-hole Liberty League Championship Tournament. The event, which features seven conference schools, is being played at the Turning Stone Resort Shenendoah Course, which plays as a par 72 over 6763 yards.
Lindsay, a freshman, had the most birdies and was -3 on the par-5s, which was second in the 35-player field. Harrigan’s 15 pars led the field.
Skidmore has the team lead with a +7, 295, followed by New York University and its +9, 297. St. Lawrence is in fourth place at +17, 305 and the University of Rochester is in fifth with a +20, 308. Robbie Keyes of NYU is the individual leader after an even-par, 72. He had four birdies, four bogeys and 10 pars, including on each of his last five holes.
Action continues on Saturday afternoon with tee times beginning at 1:30pm. Thomas Fraser is the first to go off for the Engineers and his tee time is 2:40pm.
