Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies was a classic. It literally came down to the final seconds of the game, as the Warriors escaped with a 117-116 win on the road.
That was the score with 20 seconds remaining when Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant tried getting to the tin for a bucket. Warriors point guard Stephen Curry was not about to let that happen, coming up with a massive defensive play, blocking Morant’s shot.

After Curry’s block, the Warriors gained control of the ball. Even though Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson missed both free throws, it killed most of the remaining time in the game. That allowed only a couple of seconds left for Morant to try again at a game-winner, which he also missed.
Following the block, NBA fans on twitter went nuts with a wide range of emotions. Most of them were impressed.

While others still point to how underrated Curry’s defense is.

Whether or not Curry is a great defender, he certainly made a great defensive play when the Warriors needed it the most. Despite the great play, Curry struggled throughout much of the game offensively. The Warriors young guard Jordan Poole was the biggest offensive contributor in the win.
He finished with a team-high 31 points on an efficient 12-for-20 shooting. After the game, Golden State’s future Hall of Fame point guard revealed what makes Poole such a special player.
The Warriors will look to keep the momentum going into Game 2 Tuesday.
