OXFORD, Miss. – For the 14th time in program history and fifth straight season, the Ole Miss men’s golf team found their way into the field of 81 teams announced during the 2022 NCAA Men’s Selection Show after coming away with the No. 5 seed in the Norman Regional.
After hearing their name called Wednesday afternoon during the Golf Channel’s NCAA Selection Show, the Rebels are now set to head to Norman for the tournament’s regional round of play scheduled to take place May 16-18. The Norman Regional hosted by Oklahoma, will be taking place at the Jimmie Austin Golf Club.
“We’re excited and we never take these opportunities for granted,” said head coach Chris Malloy. “Getting into the NCAA Tournament is always a big deal no matter how much success you’ve had in years past. We’re excited because the postseason is a fresh start and we’re just eager to get back into competition.”
Oklahoma stands as the top seed of the Norman regional and the field, while fellow SEC programs such as Auburn, South Carolina and Missouri also found their way into the tournament.
Only the top five programs, as well as the top individual from non-advancing teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, May 20-25. The NCAA Championship will ultimately feature 30 teams and six individuals from non-qualifying teams.
