Ja Morant certainly deserved the recognition. In fact, some would even argue that he deserves to be in the First Team given how he has performed for the Grizzlies. Perhaps his absences didn’t help his First Team case, but he was pivotal in helping Memphis finish second in the West and in the NBA with a 56-26 record in the regular season.
In just his third season in the NBA, however, there is no doubt Morant will be a fixture in the All-NBA teams for the years to come. He has proven himself to be a franchise-altering talent, and if he keeps improving at his current pace, he’ll be in the First Team by next season.
Sure enough, Morant’s focus is on helping the team win the NBA title. However, it is not bad to get some recognition for your hard work as well.
