The latest, and sixth, edition of The Match kicks off on Wednesday at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, and this foursome will not be anything like the others.
Sure, two former Match players are in it, but for the first time a professional golfer won’t be teeing it up. Also, there will be no Phil Mickelson. Lefty played in the first four and was an analyst for the fifth, but there’s been no word he’ll be a part of the latest installment this week, as Mickelson continues to take time away from the game.
So, what will Wednesday’s Match bring? Who knows! Four NFL star quarterbacks are leading the action, as Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers take on Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the event.

The Match players, handicaps
Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: This is Brady’s third Match appearance, although he’s still looking for his first win. He made his first appearance teaming up with Phil Mickelson at Medalist, and while he took some heat for his poor play on social media, he at least provided the shot of the day. He’s reportedly around an 8 handicap.
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers: Rodgers makes his return to The Match after teaming with Bryson DeChambeau to beat Mickelson and Brady in Montana last year. The QB has the lowest handicap of this bunch at 4.6. (Our instruction editor, Luke Kerr-Dineen, broke down the swings of this foursome and crowned Rodgers as the pro with the best action.)
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills: Allen makes his Match debut but has played golf on TV before. He teamed with Keith Mitchell in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am earlier this year. He was listed as a 9 handicap.
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs: Another rookie to this event, Mahomes was a 7.7 handicap at the American Century Championship last year and won the 8AM Golf Invitational at the Wynn a couple of months ago. (8AM is the patent company of GOLF.com.) He’s also appeared on the cover of GOLF Magazine.
The Match course: Meet Wynn Golf Club
Wynn Golf Club is a Tom Fazio design right on the Las Vegas strip — the home course of the Wynn Las Vegas — and boasts one of the highest greens fees around ($600).
The course has a rich history and briefly closed in 2017, but plans to turn it into a waterpark were trashed and it re-opened in 2019 after a thorough renovation. Click here to learn more about it.
The Match history, previous results
This is the sixth edition of The Match, and the first without a professional golfer. The first, in 2018, saw Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson battle for $1 million, but the lineup has changed often since. Here’s a rundown of the previous matches.
