Thompson — Sarah Healy picked a great time to have her personal best round of her high school golf career.
The East Lyme senior shot a five-over par 41 to capture medalist honors at the Eastern Connecticut Conference girls’ golf tournament championship Thursday at the Quinnatisset Country Club in Thompson.
“It was pretty crazy. I honestly didn’t think I would do this well but I hit a good shot off the first tee and I guess, I just got going from there,” Healy said.
Healy was the best of the individuals but it was Norwich Free Academy that took home the team title for the first time since 2014.
The Wildcats finished with a 205 team total, just six strokes better than the Vikings.
“East Lyme did really well and Sarah Healy killed it. We had our first match of the season against each other and the growth that you can see from both teams is really great,” said NFA girls golf coach Jess Chapman.
Molly Plecan paced the Wildcats with a 47 while Keira Kotula finished with a 51 and Caitlin Daley carded a 52.
Georgia Anglin added a 55 for East Lyme.
Healy, Plecan, Kotula and Daley were named ECC all-stars along with Jillian Marcotte of Woodstock Academy. Honorable mention went to Lily Bottone (Woodstock), Gianna Duckworth (Bacon), Camille Caldrello (Waterford) and Erin O’Farrell (NFA).
Scholar-Athlete Award winners: Marcotte (Woodstock), Plecan (NFA), Jacqueline Tran (Waterford), Duckworth (Bacon) and Mary Haburay (East Lyme).
Sportsmanship Award winners: Shannon Cunniff (Woodstock), Daley (NFA), Natalie Schenking (Waterford), Olivia Sabota (Bacon) and Kayli Johns (East Lyme).
