Tim Tszyu is set to get his long-awaited shot at a world title, but it won’t just be for one belt.
Foxsports.com.au understands Tszyu and Jermell Charlo have agreed to a fight, with the American putting his WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO super-welterweight titles on the line with the winner to become the ninth undisputed champion in the four-belt era.

An official confirmation of the bout will arrive before June 20, the date when the fight would go to a purse bid.
No Limit boxing’s George Rose said: “It’s great to have the support of the WBO and they are just as excited as we are that this massive fight is now so close. We have a good working relationship with PBC and we are now just working out a date and a venue for the Charlo v Tszyu fight, with dates in October and November on the table.
“We are very confident we will have everything finalised soon and we can’t wait to announce this historically monumental fight for Aussie boxing!”
Tszyu was named the mandatory challenger to Brian Castano’s WBO belt in August last year, but was left to wait as Castano and Charlo sought a rematch having drawn in their first encounter.
The 27-year-old stayed busy by fighting Japanese world title challenger Takeshi Inoue in November last year as well as making his US debut against Terrell Gausha in Minnesota in March.
In Charlo and Castano’s rematch, it was the former who emerged victorious via a 10th-round knockout of the Argentinian in May, which Tszyu was on hand to witness in California.

In his post-fight press conference, Charlo unloaded on his mandatory challenger Tszyu dismissively calling him ‘Tim Too’ and ‘Tim Kazoo’.
But for all of Charlo’s insults to Tszyu, the two will finally get to settle the score.
A date and location for the bout is yet to be confirmed, but it is understood that the fight will take place between October and December.
There’s also the speed bump of ensuring the fight takes place when there is some clear air in the boxing calendar.
Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin’s trilogy bout is set for September and there is also the mooted blockbuster fight between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford, although that is yet to be confirmed.
Additionally, the fight must have clear air in the Australian sporting landscape, meaning the fight would have to skirt around the date of the NRL grand final, set for October 2.
There remains hope that the fight would take place on Australian soil, although the likelihood is that Tszyu will have to take on Charlo in the American’s backyard.
