“Let’s begin this bulletin with some news from the Canadian Grand Prix.
There was no stopping Max Verstappen as the Redbull driver pipped Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz in a nail-biting end-of-race fight to win the Canadian GP and extended the world championship lead to 46 points.
Verstappen, who was driving in his 150th Grand Prix, has now won six of nine races this season, with two early-season retirements caused by reliability issues now seeming a distant memory.
The Seven time world champion Lewis Hamilton completed the podium for Mercedes in a remarkable turnaround for the Briton, who had dismissed his bouncing car as undriveable only days earlier. It was his first podium since third place in Bahrain in the opening race.”
“Meanwhile,
Matteo Berrettini underlined his Wimbledon credentials from making a comeback after being out for three months with a hand injury to winning two straight titles on the Grass. However, it will be interesting to see whether he will be able to make a hat-trick three Sunday’s from now.
The 26-year-old Italian was unforgivable with a strong first serve and defeated Filip Krajinovic 7-5,6-4 to to claim the Queen’s title for a second year in a row.
Berrettini has now won 20 of his past 21 grass-court matches, with his sole defeat coming against Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final last year.

“Moving on,
A small group of disgruntled Manchester United supporters headed toward the home of the club’s chief executive to voice their concerns amid widespread unrest in the fanbase about the ownership of the Glazer family and other issues.
They probably got more than they were bargaining for. The planned protest by the fans turned into an impromptu sit-down with Richard Arnold, the CEO, in a pub where a range of topics appeared to be discussed
A video leaked on social media showing Arnold addressing concerns in a fairly blunt manner as he spoke about how United has “burned through cash” and the need for extra investment in facilities such as the stadium and training ground.”
“In other news,
Liverpool have signed Scotland under-21 defender Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen on Sunday as a backup to right back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The 18-year-old Ramsay, who hasn’t played for Scotland’s senior team, has joined for a reported fee of 4.2 million pounds which comes up to around $5.15 million.
He only made his senior debut for Aberdeen in March last year and played 39 games for the team in Scotland’s top division, making nine assists and scoring one goal.
Joe Gomez has been the backup to Trent Alexander-Arnold over the last couple of years even though he is naturally a center back. Gomez has been linked with a move away from Anfield.”
“Meanwhile,
The Emami Group is yet to sign the contract with East Bengal to own a majority stake in the century-old club, the director of the company Aditya Agarwal said on Sunday.
It has been more than two weeks since West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee made the announcement of the tie-up at her office in Nabanna in the presence of East Bengal senior official Debabarata Sarkar and representatives from the Emami Group.
But, Emami Group’s top official Agarwal said the negotiations were “still on”
According to reports, Emami wants 80 per cent stake and the legal departments of both the parties are negotiating to finalise the draft before it is signed.”
“Moving on,
Igor Stimac never stops smiling. Even when talking about some of the prickly issues holding back Indian football.
Stimac spoke about the scheduling of the domestic season, which depends largely on the Indian Premier League, which is broadcast on the same platform as the Indian Super League, which is the top-most football competition in the country.
Stimac said, “Things need to be sorted out about the football calendar, which is still being adjusted with regards to IPL and broadcasting… This needs to stop if we want to make football great in India. Football calendar should not depend on other things.””
Stimac took over as India’s coach in May 2019, succeeding Stephen Constantine. ”
“Meanwhile,
Neeraj Chopra looked primed to breach the 90m-mark on Saturday. But he would now be happy to return from the Kuortane Games unharmed.
The Olympic champion survived a seemingly-dangerous fall, braved a slippery runway and dealt with wet conditions to record his first win of the season, finishing on top in an eight-man field in Kuortane, Finland, on Saturday.
A win in his second competition since the Tokyo Games will give Chopra further affirmation that his return is going as planned, especially given the tricky conditions he had to navigate. The 24-year-old managed just one legal throw, which travelled a distance of 86.69m, off his first attempt. However, it turned out to be enough.
”
“Lastly,
The Haryana duo of Manu Bhaker and Shiva Narwal won the 10m air pistol mixed team title at the 20th Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial Shooting competition on Sunday. They beat the experienced pair of Amanpreet Singh and Shweta Singh of ONGC 16-8 in the gold medal match.
