Ivaylo Gotsev predicts Pulev -Chisora will NOT go the distance
Ahead of Kubrat Pulev’s return to the ring this Saturday, July 9, against Dereck Chisora, live on DAZN, BoyleSports Boxing caught up with his promoter, Ivaylo Gotsev, who boldy claimed that Kubrat Pulev will end Derek Chisora’s career on Saturday.
Here’s what the Bulgarian had to say just days before the main event at the O2 Arena in London:
Pulev to KO Chisora into retirement
“We are going to send Derek Chisora home early and send Derek Chisora into retirement because what is Chisora going to do if he loses? It’s going to be a hard one to come back from. It’s a must win for both guys. This fight is not going the distance – that’s what we are training for. The winner has a great chance of challenging for a world title.”
Pulev was only at 40% against Anthony Joshua
“Chisora’s style will make the fight very exciting, he’ll keep coming, but he’ll play into Kubrat’s hands. Kubrat has an awesome jab and will keep Chisora at bay. But we’ve worked on some surprises. So don’t be surprised to see a brawl in the center of the ring. We are coming forward too. Kubrat has plenty in his artillery. Remember, against AJ, Kubrat was only at 40% of his physical conditioning having just come out of covid with all the symptoms – and still went nine rounds against the world champion, so that was pretty unbelievable.
“Kubrat has challenged for a world title twice. Against Klitschko there was a lack of experience. The second time against AJ – most of the world knows he had covid. This time all the stars have aligned and he’s in the best shape of his life. Its winner takes all here and Kubrat wants to make a statement in London for the British fans against a very exciting and tough opponent.”
Frank Warren did not offer enough money for the Joe Joyce fight to happen
“We had talks more than once with Joe Joyce, but Joyce’s promoter came in light on all occasions – they came in pretty light as far as the offer was concerned. Kubrat has been on a big stage, a much bigger stage than Joyce has been on – he’s challenged for the title twice and proved to be a formidable opponent and therefore needs to be treated properly when it comes to negotiations. This is the reason why the fight has not happened. And then you have Daniel Dubois. That’s another possible fight with the same promoter. So, yeah, we’ll be talking. But first things first. Take care of business July 9.
Pulev would ‘smash Jake Paul to pieces’
“Kubrat would smash Jake Paul to pieces, that would not be a problem. But Jake Paul knows who to call and who not to call. There is no way this guy is going to come our way because there are smart people around him – they’ll pick the right battles.
“Yeah, he’s 41-years-old. But strange things are happening now with today’s advancements with training regimes, nutrition, how to take care of your body – boxers extend their ring life because they take care of their bodies properly. Kubrat has gained strength over the years and experience. So to me the 41-years-old is a bonus.”
