Just as he did the previous two nights, Scott Piercy will sleep on the lead at the 2022 3M Open. Stretching his 36-hole margin from three strokes to four, the 43-year-old has been able to effectively navigate his way around TPC Twin Cities in a way unbeknownst to the rest of the field.
For his efforts, he is projected to move from outside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup Standings all the way to inside the top 50 if he is to hold on for victory. While the lead is significant, there are still a number of players behind him who are more than capable of piecing together the perfect final round and spoiling Piercy’s stellar week in Minnesota.
Emiliano Grillo, Doug Ghim and Tony Finau all have the tee-to-green ability to go low on Sunday and will need to be mistake free if they are to have a chance. Despite the cards being stacked against them, there is still plenty to play for as the PGA Tour regular season quickly comes to a close.
