Star Indian opener KL Rahul on Saturday shared an emotional statement with his fans, giving updates about his health and fitness.
KL Rahul not named in India’s squad vs Zimbabwe
KL Rahul’s statement came hours after the Chetan Sharma-headed selection panel on Saturday (July 30) announced the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. While there were many interesting names present in the squad, however, the absence of KL Rahul from the squad became one of the most talked about topics.
Notably, KL Rahul was the frontrunner to lead the team on the upcoming tour to Zimbabwe. Earlier he was all set to make his return to the Indian side against West Indies in the 5-match T20I series and was then scheduled to tour Zimbabwe. However, he had to miss the West Indies tour as he contracted COVID-19 last week. Rahul has now recovered from COVID-19 but still hasn’t been named in team India.
KLR shared an emotional message for his fans
Meanwhile, as soon as the BCCI announced the squad for the Zimbabwe tour, social media was flooded with tweets from curious fans.
Ending all the speculations regarding his health, on Saturday, KL Rahul took to his social media and shared an emotional note with his fans, where he explained that his aim is to recover as soon as possible in order to return to national duties. He wrote:
“Hey guys. I wanted to clarify a couple of things about my health and fitness. My surgery in June was successful, and I had begun training with the hope of returning to national duty for the teams tour of the West Indies.”
“Unfortunately, as I was nearing a return to full fitness, I tested positive for COVID-19. This naturally pushes things back by a couple of weeks, but I aim to recover as quickly as possible, and be available for selection as soon as I can.”
“To represent the national team is the highest honour, and I cannot wait to get out there back in blue. See you soon. KLR,”
