The Dodgers are good at many things, but developing talent at the minor league level is their specialty. The latest MLB top 100 prospect rankings have 7 different players on the list, and a few made significant jumps up the list.
Let’s take a look at a few of the names on the updated list.
Diego Cartaya (#10)
Cartaya took a huge jump for the Dodgers, up from number 28 the season prior. The almost 21-year-old catcher has been crushing in the minor leagues, getting a bump up to Great Lakes this year In 46 games at high-A, Cartaya has posted a .937 OPS with 11 home runs. This kid is the future for this organization, and there are a lot of reasons to be excited about him.
Bobby Miller (#27)
Miller jumps up 51 spots to number 27 this year. The hard-throwing righty got a promotion to Oklahoma City this week, but he does still have some things he needs to refine. His walk rate still isn’t where they need it to be, and he’s allowing a lot of runs to come across. But the stuff is real.
Miguel Vargas (#44)
Vargas got to make his big league debut this year for the Dodgers, and fans got a taste of why scouts love his bat. His defense needs work though, and they don’t quite have an everyday spot for him right now.
Michael Busch (#45)
Busch jumps up 30 spots from last year, and with good reason. The infielder just got bumped to Triple-A OKC and continues to show off his developing power. Across 104 minor league games this year, he has had 26 balls leave the yard.
Other Dodgers on the list: Andy Pages (#69), Ryan Pepiot (#77), Gavin Stone (#81)
