Sabalenka advances with Pliskova win; Iga Swiatek, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner in action

    September 7, 2022No Comments

Australian tennis icon Wally Masur is expecting big things from both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner ahead of their blockbuster clash at Flushing Meadows.

Of course, there’s only one of the young guns that can prevail in today’s clash, but Masur believes both have grand slam titles in their futures.

”Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have arrived, no question about that,” Masur told Stan Sports’ Grand Slam Daily.

“They are brilliant players and they are going to go go on and win majors.”

Masur is particularly big on Alcaraz, who he says is “in the mould of (Rafa) Nadal”.

”Alcaraz is a clay-courter, but he has developed other dimensions to his game. He’s got power off both wings,” he said.

“He is a highlight reel and an absolutely exciting player in the mould of a Nadal, just never says die on any point.”
