Ishwar Pandey is a well-known Indian cricketer. He has been in the news because he recently announced his retirement through social media.
His full name is Ishwar Chand Pandey. Many people also fondly called him Sonu. He was born on 15 August 1989 in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, India. His father was a junior officer in the Indian Army before retiring. He underwent training at the Chennai-based MRF Pace Academy.
He is married to Akshita Pandey since 2017.
His height is 6 ft 2 inches. Presently, he is 33 years old.
His Career
In November 2010, Ishwar Pandey made his Madhya Pradesh first-class debut against Goa. He participated in three Ranji Trophy games that season, taking nine wickets at an average of 27.
Nest year, he took 25 wickets from six games during the 2011–12 Ranji Trophy season, with a high of 6/31 and an average of 29. Next year, he took 48 wickets from eight games and an average of slightly over 21. He also had five five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul.
With stats of 5/87 and 5/58 in a game against Bengal that season, Pandey single-handedly led Madhya Pradesh to an unlikely victory.
Following this, Pandey was chosen for the 2013 Irani Cup India A squad to play the visiting England side and the Rest of the India squad to face Mumbai. He was acquired by Pune Warriors India for the 2013 Indian Premier League season.
In the inaugural unofficial test match between South Africa A and India A in August 2013 at Rustenburg, Ishwar Pandey had statistics of 4/46 and 3/25. He achieved scores of 3/67 and 1/16 in the second unofficial test. He ended the series with a total of joint-most wickets.
He often played for CSK in the 2015 IPL. He scored a hattrick in a Twenty20 match between Madhya Pradesh and Andhra in the 2015–16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in January 2016.
