The town of Westport is having its 13th annual community shred day from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 24 at the Green’s Farms train station, located at 2 Post Office Lane.
Each household may shred up to eight paper bags or three boxes that are 12 inches by 18 inches. Each car will be charged $10.
Proof of a Westport residency is required.
The event is an opportunity for Westport residents to dispose of personal, confidential and sensitive papers, such as bank statements, canceled checks, credit card statements, tax records, and medical records.

CraftWestport returning after hiatus
CraftWestport is returning Nov. 5 and 6.
The event will be at the Staples High School fieldhouse, located at 70 North Ave. in Westport.
The event brings more than 175 fine contemporary craftspeople, and modern makers from across the U.S. to exhibit at Connecticut’s largest indoor fine crafts festival. It includes artwork, skincare products and soaps, specialty food, fashion and candles.
Net proceeds from admission fees will be distributed to local charitable agencies in lower Fairfield County by the Young Woman’s League.
It is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 5 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 6.
General admission is $11, senior citizen (62 and older) are $10, children (12 to 18) are $5 and those younger are free.
Parking is free and shuttle buses are available from the parking lot to the admission gate.

LobsterFest is sold out, donations and volunteers still welcome
The Westport Rotary Club’s LobsterFest is sold out though donations and volunteers are still welcome for the event on Saturday at Compo Beach from 3 to 7 p.m.
The club said this is its main fundraiser and it sold out earlier than usual.

Photographer exhibits at book shop
The Westport Book Shop has welcomed local photographer Jerri Graham as the September art exhibit in the Drew Friendman Art Place.
The nonprofit shop is located at 23 Jesup Road in Westport.
Graham is exhibiting a series of photographs showcasing Westport’s Wakeman Town Farm through Sept. 30. All of the artwork is available for purchase that is on display. Graham plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to the farm.
People can see the exhibit during the bookstore’s business hours.

Longtime Westport resident joins Home Care Providers, Inc.
Tony Clawson, a longtime resident of Westport, has joined Home Care Providers, Inc., as a general counsel.
Clawson has an extensive background in law, management, and technology, and a keen interest in the home care industry.
Registration open for Tiny Miracles Foundation golf event
Registration is open for the Tiny Miracles Foundation’s fourth annual golf event, “Tee Up FORE Preemies.”
The event will be Oct. 3, at the Aspetuck Valley Country Club in Weston.
Proceeds will support the nonprofit’s programs for families of premature babies. One in 10 babies is born preterm, according to the organization.
The event will include carts, lunch, refreshments, post play hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, a silent auction and other prizes. Teams of four, two and individual golfers can register.
The nonprofit was formed in 2004 by two local mothers of premature twins who recognized a lack of emotional, financial and practical support for NICU families through their experiences.

Police appreciation day to honor departments
The Beth Israel Chabad Synagogue of Westport/Norwalk is holding a police appreciation awards ceremony and brunch from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, to honor and recognize the police departments serving the community.
The synagogue is sponsoring the event on behalf of the community to thank the police for their service.
Norwalk deputy chiefs, as well as Westport, Weston and Wilton police chiefs will receive citations of merit. There will also be piano selections from Professor Gil Harel and remarks from Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling, Westport First Selectwoman Jennifer S. Tooker, and selectmen of Weston and Wilton.
