The 2022 Presidents Cup moves into the weekend as the U.S. commands a substantial 8-2 lead over the International team. Matching the 2017 Presidents Cup for the largest lead at the halfway point, the Americans will look to put the visiting team to bed as a potential eight points are up for grabs between the two sessions on Saturday.

Needing only 7.5 points to capture its 12th Presidents Cup in 14 attempts, the U.S. will first send out its formidable duo of Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth. The two good friends have been electric around Quail Hollow Club the first two days and have garnered a 2-0-0 record alongside each other. While the likelihood of the U.S. closing out the International title is slim, captain Trevor Immelman’s squad will have to keep its head up if it aims to claw back into this event. Despite the large deficit, five of the first 10 matches have reached the 18th hole through the first two days.

Unfortunately for the internationals, they have only captured one victory and two ties in those five matches. If they expect to make this Presidents Cup more competitive in the latter stages, not only will the breaks need to go their way, but more putts will need to fall.
