No. 11 Tennessee holds a 17-14 advantage over No. 20 Florida at halftime in what’s been a fun, back-and-forth affair through the first 30 minutes on Saturday. Both quarterbacks have been stealing the spotlight with Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker throwing for 248 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 65 yards and a score. Meanwhile, Florida’s Anthony Richardson has 220 passing yards (a career-high) at halftime, and has rushed for 41 yards with two total touchdowns.
The biggest series of the first half was final one. After pinning the Vols at the 1-yard line with a punt, Tennessee went 99 yards in 12 plays in only 2:43. That’s when Hooker hit Bru McCoy for a 2-yard touchdown pass with seven seconds left in the half to give Tennessee the lead at home. And, as if that’s not enough, the Vols will start the third quarter with the ball, so they could be up two scores by the time Florida gets the ball back. It was a series that could’ve changed the game.
