ATHENS, Ga. – The Ole Miss women’s team completed day two at the Sea Pines College Tournament. The day was highlighted with a ranked win for Anaëlle Leclerq.
At Georgia’s Henry Field Stadium, Ole Miss began the day with doubles duo Lillian Gabrielsen and Kelsey Mize against Furman’s Alexa Griffith and Marissa Pennings. The Rebels took the 6-4 win to advance and face off against Georgia’s Guillermina Grant and Anastasiia Lopata. The Rebels were unable to keep their streak going and fell to the Bulldogs 4-6.
In singles play, Mize gained another win for the Rebs when she faced Old Dominion’s Mya Byrd. Mize dominated the entire match taking down her competitor 6-2, 6-1.
Another Rebel that earned a win in Saturday’s competition was No. 111 ranked Leclerq. Leclerq, going against Old Dominion’s No. 78 Alexandra Viktorovich. Leclerq won the first set 6-3, but fell in the second set 3-6. With the match tied even, Leclerq responded with her back against the wall to win 6-3.
Gabrielsen and Reka Zadori rounded it out for the Rebels in singles play, both going up against ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Gabrielsen faced off with Georgia’s No. 26 Lea Ma, but fell in two sets (2-6, 1-6). Zadori took on No. 79 Dasha Vidmanova, and completed the match at 2-6, 1-6.
The Rebels look to Sunday to finish out the final day of the Sea Pines College Tournament.
