Tim Tszyu has branded Darkon Dryden’s bold claim he will finish younger brother Nikita inside five rounds “disrespectful” as the hometown hero looks to derail the hype train.
Dryden (4-0, 4KO) has vowed to end the youngest Tszyu’s (3-0, 2KO) night early and keep the judges from working overtime as the co-main event of the Super Saturday boxing festival at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.

The fight is Dryden’s first in over 18 months and his second in five-and-a-half years, but it hasn’t prevented him from believing he can be the one to derail the hype train.
However, Tim couldn’t believe Dryden could make such a claim given the reputation of his previous four opponents.

“Look, of course you’re going to have confidence like that when you’ve fought Thai bums with a winning record of two wins and 30 losses,” Tszyu said.
“It’s easy to say that. When you’ve got someone who’s grown up in the amateurs, who’s done boxing his whole life from birth, who lives and breathes it. No honeymoons, no nothing, just straight grind, in the gym, perfecting your craft.
“Inside five rounds? That’s disrespectful.”
As consistent as Dryden has been in terms of his vision for how the fight will finish, so too has Nikita.
The youngest Tszyu has stated all along his fourth professional bout will be a tactical one as he looks set to employ a style of boxing more akin to his amateur days.
It’s a change Tim welcomes as the Australian boxing world gets to see a “different Nikita” in the ring.
“He’s working on emotion and heart and power,” Tszyu said.
“Nikita possesses crazy skill, an IQ matched to the very top. If he gets to showcase that and not with his emotion, you’ll see a different Nikita.”
