Four area players advanced to the District 4 girls tennis singles tournament semifinals on Monday in Jersey Shore’s Peyton Dincher, Loyalsock’s Anna Hall, Montoursville’s Kara Mann and Hughesville’s Sarah Buck.
The semifinals will be played at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Central PA Tennis Center, with the championship set to begin shortly afterward.
Dincher and Hall will face off in one semifinal and Mann and Buck will play each other in the second semifinal. Dincher finished runner-up last year to South Williamsport’s Olivia Dorner, who won her fourth consecutive district title last fall.
The top two finishers at the District 4 tournament advance to the state tournament in Hershey. The state tournament begins on Friday, Nov. 4, at the Hershey Racquet Club. Dincher, a sophomore, lost last year in the first round of the PIAA Class AA tournament to Lancaster Catholic’s Anna Millen, 6-1, 6-1.
Dincher secured a first-round bye, and awaited her opponent for the second round. Coming in at the second seed was Mann, who also received a first round-bye as she awaited her opponent in the second round as well.

Buck defeated Hannah Nuss of Wellsboro handedly with a 6-0, 6-1 win, following her first win with a dominating attack on the back end to move on to the second round.
Danville’s Sarah Bhanushali defeated Bucktail’s Alexis Lowery in a well-played match by both girls, but Bhanushali ultimately pulled away nearing the end of the match to take a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Bucktail’s Kayla Probert, the district’s sixth seed, took down Lewisburgs Grace Burckhart in another well contested match, winning 6-4, 6-2. Muncy’s Taylor Shannon fell to Bloomsburgs Mya Coyne, 6-1, 6-2, which sent Coyne into the second round.
Hughesville’s Kylie Kilgore, whose Spartans just won the HAC-II title on Thursday, finished off in dominating fashion Pasley Nudd of Cowanesque Valley, 6-0, 6-1.
Lewisburg’s Elisa Fellon etched out an advancement win in a well-rounded, back-and-forth matchup over Brooklyn Wade of Milton, 6-4, 7-6. North Penn-Liberty’s Marissa Griess lost to South Williamsport’s Sadie Stahl in a walk-over, before Loyalsock’s Anna Hall defeated Towanda’s Jocelyn Stroud in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.

Montgomery’s Samantha Guyer fell to Alaina Marchioni of Montoursville, 6-2, 6-1. South Williamsport’s Eve Jakson fell to Central Columbia’s Riley Noss, 6-0, 6-3.
Like her teammate Dincher, Jersey Shore’s Celia Shemory also advanced to the second round with a 6-0, 6-0 straight-set win against Neumann’s Liz Weller.
To round out the first round, the final match of the opening singles round saw Loyalsocks Maddy Hall take down Montgomery’s Sloan Wooten, 6-2, 7-5.
Buck beat Noss in the second round, 6-4, 6-2 and Probert fell to Kotru, 6-0, 6-3. Shemory advanced into the third round with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Bloomsburg’s Mya Coyne.
Mann defeated Maddy Hall, 6-4, 6-2, to get into the third round.

Dincher defeated Kilgore with ease in the third round, 6-1, 6-1, and Hall followed suit by taking down Bhanushali, 6-2, 6-1. Buck made quick work over Kotru, 6-0, 6-1. To bookend and close out the first day of the District 4 singles tournament, Mann beat Shemory, 6-0, 6-1.
