The Indian cricket team has undergone many changes and developments over the years. Captains have come and gone, as have management and coaches, but the team approach has remained constant. The most recent change was the resignation of former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly as the BCCI president, who was replaced by former Indian cricketer Roger Binny.
Roger Binny has become the first World Cup winner to be elected as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The former India all-rounder won the post unopposed. Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly remained as the president for three years after taking charge in 2019.
The 67-year-old was elected as the new chief of the board and the 36th president of the BCCI after the BCCI’s 91st Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held in Mumbai on Tuesday, October 18. Secretary Jay Shah retained his post while Rajeev Shuka was elected as the Vice President.
I Have Never Said No To Any Player In The Past – Roger Binny
Roger Binny stated that he has never carried weight as a Test cricketer or a World Cup winner and never will. He further added that his doors are open to players and he won’t say no to them now.
“I’ve never carried the weight of being a Test cricketer or a member of a World Cup winning team. I will never change, if I had to I should have decades ago. I’ve always told players my doors are open. I have never said no to any player in the past, I definitely won’t say now,” Roger Binny said.
Binny has made significant contributions to Indian cricket. He was a crucial player in India’s historic World Cup victory in 1983, and he finished the World Cup as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 18 wickets. He has vowed to improve India’s injury concerns since taking charge and has stated that it will be his number one priority. He also indicated that one of his top priorities is to improve the quality of pitches across the country.
