FLUSHING, N.Y. (Oct. 28, 2022) –
Now that the regular season has come to an end, the tournament field is set for the 2022 CUNYAC Women’s Soccer Championship. Four programs with championship aspirations will compete for the conference bragging right on Saturday, Nov 5 at Queens College.
John Jay is the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament after capturing its third consecutive CUNYAC Regular Season Championship. The Bloodhounds 10-2-2 during the regular season, including an undefeated conference record for a third straight season.
John Jay is led by three-time CUNYAC Player of the Week, Katie Healy, who has 10 goals and eight assists for 28 points on the season. The Bloodhounds present a balanced attack, as a total of 19 players have found the back of the net this season.
CCNY is the No. 2 seed after completing the regular season 7-2-1 with a 4-1 record against league opposition. The Beavers are led by forward Skylar Parker, who leads the conference in goals (21) and assists (51). Including Parker, CCNY features four players with five or more goals, including Mackenzie Moreno, Laura Villatoro and Cassidy Canberg.
Brooklyn is the No. 3 seed after finishing 3-2 against CUNYAC opponents, followed by Lehman as the No. 4 seed to round out the field.
The first semifinal contest features John Jay and Lehman. The Bloodhounds defeated the Lightning 8-0 in the regular season meeting, highlighted by two goals each from Healy and rookie Mikayla Schoch.
The second semifinal contest features CCNY and Brooklyn. In the regular season meeting between the two squads, the Beavers earned a 5-0 victory, led by two goals apiece from Parker and Moreno.
The winners of Saturday’s semifinal contests advance to the championship on Nov. 5 at Queens College. The game will be broadcasted on Facebook Live.
