    Tech releases men’s tennis spring schedule

    LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men’s tennis team has released its 2023 spring schedule as announced by head coach Daniel Whitehead on Monday afternoon.

    Red Raider fans will get seven chances to see Texas Tech at the McLeod Tennis Center this season.

    First, the Red Raiders travel to Knoxville, Tenn. for a season-opener match on January 9 against the Tennessee Volunteers, who advanced to the semifinals in the 2022 NCAA Team Championships last season. The Red Raiders will stay in Knoxville the following day for a match against the Charlotte 49ers. 

    Tech returns to Lubbock for its first home match of the year against Louisiana on January 15. Then, the Red Raiders head to Fort Worth for ITA Kickoff Weekend, where they first face Utah on January 28. Both TCU and Gonzaga are also in the regional as the winner advances to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Chicago on February 17-20.

    After ITA Kickoff Weekend, the Red Raiders are on the road for two-consecutive matches against Wichita State (February 3) and Tulsa (February 5). Tech comes back home for a doubleheader against both UTRGV and ACU on February 12 before traveling to Alabama for the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Tournament on February 24-25. 

    On March 3, the Red Raiders welcome SMU to Lubbock before heading to Tempe, Ariz. for the Arizona State Spring Break Invitational on March 10-12. The Red Raiders will stay on the West Coast for two matches against both Oregon and BYU on March 16 and 17, respectively, in Eugene, Ore.

    Tech has one more home match against Middle Tennessee State on March 26 before starting conference play against Baylor on March 31 in Waco. The Red Raiders then host Texas and TCU on April 6 and April 8 in Lubbock, before closing out conference against Oklahoma State on April 14 and Oklahoma on April 16. Following this, the team will head to Lawrence, Kan. for the Big 12 Tournament on April 20-23.
