Bubba Wallace Sends a 2-Word Message to His ‘Privileged’ Protégé After His Move to Hendrick Motorsports Legend’s NASCAR Team

    December 7, 2022No Comments

Last few years, the hype around Bubba Wallace was immense. But as it turns out, another new driver often considered Wallace’s protégé is entering the sport as a full-time as well. Recently, Wallace congratulated him after news of him joining the Truck Series with GMS Racing became official.

Wallace took to his Instagram to post a story where he said, “Congrats Kid!!!” The graphic used in the story was that of the recently announced Truck Series driver, Rajah Caruth.

During the press conference, they announced Caruth to be in the Truck Series starting next season. He was asked if having the Wendell Scott Foundation’s name on the car added pressure on him.

The neophyte driver responded, “Not at all, like I don’t. Ima be honest with you man, this is not pressure. Like pressure is like having to pay rent or like I’m so serious, like getting food on the table. This is a privilege to be in this situation, like with the Scott Foundation and all the partners that have been with me since day one. From back home in DC to people that I have grown to know over the last couple of years in the racing industry. I don’t see this as pressure man. I see this as an opportunity.”

Caruth will now be racing for the GMS Racing team. Which is now co-owned by Hendrick Motorsports legend, Jimmie Johnson.

The Bubba Wallace disciple talks about his role in helping the sport grow

NASCAR insider and journalist, Bob Pockrass, shared a tweet where we see Rajah Caruth explaining his role in the sport. Caruth is being brought onto the racing scene with the support of the Wendell Scott Foundation. So his goals for the type of message he wants to spread in the community are quite clear.

According to Pockrass, Caruth stated, “Rajah Caruth’s path through online racing sets an example that there are opportunities for aspiring drivers. Caruth’s thoughts on his role in helping grow the sport with his team and the Wendell Scott Foundation doing outreach with historically black colleges and universities.“

What is interesting about Caruth is that he started his racing aspirations with sim racing. Later on, while competing in the iRacing virtual 2018 eNASCAR Ignite Series, he grasped the attention to be selected as a NASCAR driver for the diversity program. Since then, he slowly transitioned into real-life racing.

The Bubba Wallace protégé then spent his time competing in the ARCA Menards series. He also debuted in both the Truck and the Xfinity Series. However, only now he gets the chance finally to race as a full-time driver. Caruth still has a bright future ahead of him. We wish to see him perform well in the lower echelons of the sport. Hopefully, one day, we might see him race alongside Bubba Wallace. What do you reckon?
