The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed goaltender Joonas Korpisalo on Injured Reserve and added goaltender Jet Greaves to the roster on emergency recall from the Cleveland Monsters, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Korpisalo, 28, suffered a lower body injury in last night’s 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames and is expected to miss one-to-two weeks. He is 4-5-1 with a 3.53 goals-against average and .903 save percentage in 12 appearances with the Blue Jackets this season, including a 1-1-0 record with a 2.92 GAA and .915 SV% in his four games in December. The Pori, Finland native made his Columbus season debut on November 5 vs. Colorado and registered points in four consecutive games from November 10-17 (3-0-1). He is 80-72-22 with a 3.07 GAA, .902 SV% and three shutouts in 194 career regular season games since making his NHL debut with Columbus in 2015-16.
The 6-3, 193-pound netminder was selected by Columbus in the third round, 62nd overall, at the 2012 NHL Draft.
Greaves, 21, served as the club’s backup netminder in the season opener on October 12 at Carolina. He has posted a 16-15-4 record with a 3.18 GAA, .897 SV% and one shutout in 39 career AHL outings with the Monsters since making his pro debut in 2021-22. The 6-0, 184-pound native of Cambridge, Ontario is 4-3-2 with a 4.10 GAA and .878 SV% in 10 appearances with the club in 2022-23. Signed by the Blue Jackets to a three-year, entry level contract on Feb. 20, 2022, he spent three years with the Ontario Hockey League’s Barrie Colts, posting a 20-27-8 mark, 3.71 GAA, .899 SV% and three shutouts in 60 games between 2018-20.
