The shameful defeat at the hands of lowly ranked Bangladesh in ODI Series further alarmed BCCI. The board top guns will conduct the review meeting on Sunday.
The meeting comes two days before Team India launch their home campaign with a T20 series against Sri Lanka in Mumbai. But other than coach Dravid, none of the attendee is involved with the series.
Who will attend the meeting?
- Coach Rahul Dravid & National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief VVS Laxman will represent the Support Staff side

What will be discussed at the PERFORMANCE REVIEW Meeting? 5 POINT Agenda on CARDS
AGENDA 1: Captain, Coach & Chairman of Selection Committee to give explaination on DEFEATS: The 1st point on AGENDA is very clear. BCCI will ask the captain Rohit Sharma, Coach Rahul Dravid & Chairman Selection Committee to explain the reason of the DEFEATS in Asia Cup & T20 World CUP.
All 3 will be met separately.
AGENDA 2: Why so many injuries? Besides Captain, Coach & Selector, BCCI will speak to NCA Head VVS Laxman in this regard. The agenda would be to understand why so many injuries are happening and how well are they managed?
The Board president Binny had himself raised concerns over workload management and the injuries to key players. As NCA chief, the former India batter will be asked to explain the causes for such injuries. The review of NCA Staff will also be done.
AGENDA 3: Captaincy Way-Forward: The BCCI will formally take views of Rohit, Rahul, Laxman on the way forward on issue of captaincy. BCCI is of the view that Rohit should be the ODI and test captain till 2023 World CUP.
Hardik Pandya will be officially announced as India’s T20 World Cup in mind till 2024. It is worth noting that Hardik will be captaining India against SriLanka in T20 Series. But BCCI or selectors are yet to announce him as PERMANENT CAPTAIN.
The board has already handed him the vice-captaincy in the 50-over format.
AGENDA 4 – How to phase out seniors? Phasing out the seniors from the T20 format is also being talked about. The same will be discussed with all who will be present at the meeting. BCCI will take views of everyone and the phase out procedure for the seniors will be formalized.
Rohit, Virat, R.Ashwin, Dinesh Karthik, Mohd Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar are also in their mid 30’s and BCCI is likely to phase out these players in the next 12 months from WHITE-BALL cricket.
AGENDA 5 – Specialist T20 Coach: As earlier reported by InsideSport, BCCI is very serious about appointment of specialist coach for the shortest format. The same will be debated and will come up for discussion in the meeting. India haven’t won an ICC tournament since 2013. And the PERFORMANCE REVIEW Meeting is clear cut signal, that is BCCI is determined to make amends next time.
