Boxing promoter Bob Arum claims he has “found” Shakur Stevenson an opponent for his lightweight debut – but refused to go into any detail about the specifics.
Stevenson, a two-weight world champion, was recently stripped of the WBC and WBO super-featherweight titles after missing weight ahead of his fight with Robson Conceicao last September.
The American, 25, confirmed that he will move up to 135lbs after the fight, as his body is no longer able to make the 130lbs limit.
However, it seems that he is struggling to find an opponent, as Isaac Cruz, William Zepeda and George Kambosos Jr have apparently all rejected the chance to fight him in recent weeks.
But Arum, who has promoted Stevenson since he made his professional debut in 2017, says he has found someone who is seemingly up to the task.
And fight fans will be pleased to know that they can expect an announcement to be made in due course.
What has Bob Arum said about Shakur Stevenson?
Speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT.com, when asked about Stevenson’s next fight, Arum replied: “I think we’ve got somebody now.
“We’ve found an opponent for him. I don’t want to go into it now. I think we’ve got somebody.
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
Back in September Stevenson made up for his bad weight miss as he comfortably outclassed Conceicao over 12 rounds.

Arum added: “Shakur is a tremendous talent.
“You know, he’s going to be a 135-pound champion.
“He’ll probably be able to fight at 140 and 147 at some point. He’s a big kid and he’s still growing.
“But what a talent, it’s just so unbelievable getting to watch him fight live.”

Arum also revealed that Stevenson played a key part in signing his former rival Robeisy Ramirez who beat him in the final of the Olympics in Rio in 2016.
He continued: “You know, the thing that’s interesting about Shakur is when we were in a position to sign Robeisy Ramirez, who beat Shakur for the gold at the Olympics, Shakur was the guy pushing for us to sign him.
“He said what an amazing talent Robeisy was.
“I mean, look, you talk about him and then there’s Keyshawn Davis. I mean, where did he learn to fight like that, he looks like Sugar Ray Leonard.”
